Existing IPA’s to be transferred to VTA’s by 31 December – Smedley’s Engineers is here to help.

Smedley's Industry News

The deadline for transferring IPAs to VTAs is 31 December 2021.

Manufacturers have been warned that they shouldn’t miss the deadline for the RVSA VTA opt-in. However, the Department of Infrastructure has disclosed that the uptake of the Vehicle Type Approval (VTA) opt-in has been slow, with only an approximate 12% of existing truck Identity Plate Approvals (IPAs) being converted to VTAs so far.

Smedley’s Engineers are working tirelessly to support manufacturers through this transition and beat the deadline. The roll-over of existing IPAs to VTA’s in the new ROVER system is fundamental.

The ability to opt-in is only available until 31 December and the roll-over process can take up to 3 weeks from start to finish, which doesn’t provide manufacturers and heavy trailer builders with much time.

As the Department of Infrastructure has indicated that applications submitted after 1 December are at risk of not being processed before the deadline, it is highly recommended that manufacturers contact Smedley’s Engineers as soon as possible to request support.
